Vacation Time ~ For the Kid in All of Us!

My favorite time of the year (next to Thanksgiving) has always been Summertime! But that of course was before our children started their careers and internships. Now we have to coordinate our schedules way in advance and block off vacation time simultaneously to accomplish the happiest moments of our lives ~ togetherness! It’s those precious moments when your adult kids transform into their former childlike selves and you as parents relish in the simplicity, hilarity and pure joy of the love and silliness that ensues. We embrace it, sometimes initiate it and always participate in it as if we are five kids living life, loving life and not for a second, taking ourselves too seriously.

As parents, we were never in a rush for our kids to grow up. We slowed down the pace trying to keep them little as long as possible. Possibly too much. But our children, like time, managed to slip through our grasp rapidly. They have evolved into awesome adults that will make this world a better place through their compassion and individuality. Ironically, now we are in the biggest hurry for our kids to come home or eager to meet up at a central location. Mark your calendars kids, August is around the corner! Just another Empty Nesters Ballad. By the way, let me know what your summer plans are and your favorite vacation memories with your kids!
